My Mum’s Journey to Becoming Capable & Confident : Completing a Wolf Run

Two days ago, I got to do a Wolf Run with my mum — a core memory unlocked.
I talk about her journey so much because it really shows that she’s just like most of us: held back by her own beliefs. For years she told herself she couldn’t.
When she was a teenager, she had a freak knee accident that left her untrusting ever since. On top of that, she’s had chronic back pain for as long as she can remember. For her, the idea of running properly again felt impossible - let alone something like a wolf run. She used to say, “I’ll never be able to run properly again” or "My back would never let me do that."
But yesterday, she proved herself wrong.

Step by Step
Through CJPT Small Group Personal Training, she built the strength and confidence to do things she never thought she could. Pulling herself over obstacles taller than her. Facing her fear of heights. Learning how to trust her body again, instead of holding onto those old beliefs.
But the reality? None of this came from waiting for the “right time” or giving up when she didn’t feel like it.
At 57, working shifts in a stressful job, her energy is up and down all the time. She doesn’t always want to train, but the structure and accountability of CJPT sessions — plus her own discipline — carried her through.
The Big Day
The Wolf Run is tough. It’s not just running — it’s mud, water, climbing, crawling, and moments where you wonder if you can really do it.
And that “weak back” she’s lived with for decades? She ended the day standing strong with an 80kg zercher hold (me). Not bad for someone who for many years didn't feel capable.

What Can We Learn
I’m not saying everyone needs to sign up for a Wolf Run. That’s not the point.
What my mum showed me is that the reasons we give ourselves for why we can’t usually aren’t as deep as we think. They’re just beliefs. And if you’re brave enough to challenge them — and give yourself the right environment, like she found at CJPT Small Group Training — you might surprise yourself.
For me, seeing her cross that finish line was more than just about the race. It was proof that change is possible, no matter your age, your fears, or your story. You just have to be willing the hard yards.
👉 So, what belief is holding you back right now — How would your life change if you had a body you felt was capable & confident in?
